.

just to make you laugh, here's some silly pictures that my mom took a little while ago (the harley belongs to greg's dad, the sportbike is mine)

silly daddio
he looks good on that cruiser, eh!?

[and no, before you ask, i did not take my dad for a ride on the back. i don't think that would end well!!]

can't wait for the weekend

.

so dinner tonight was turkey tacos and salad: the tacos were for greg, who is still [unfortunately] working 2nd shift until his "line" (the manufacturing machines) are fixed up a little bit. i had salad, since i ate a big lunch and i'm trying SO hard to win the weight-loss race i have going with suzanne. i'm beating her by 3 lbs as of monday, so keep rooting for me :)

makin' tacoooos:
super duper yummy!

BUT. in much more exciting news: my extremely good friend MATT B is coming home on leave this weekend for the fourth of july!! the whole nh crew is invited up to his lakehouse for the weekend for some good company and good times. i can't wait to see him...he's been at boot camp and training for months now and we've had really limited contact. it'll be an awesome chance to see everyone else from high school too - living in a different state really makes it hard to see them regularly. we do a pretty good job, though! and maine has definite advantages, not the least of which are a sweet job, a cute house, awesome new friends, and all the good accomplished feelings that come from supporting yourself :)

all in all, life is pretty darn great.

nosh: the kitchen bar

.
this past saturday i got to go on a date to a place i've been wondering about for ages: nosh! greg and i headed down to the city for an afternoon of walking and shopping and ended up wanting to get dinner while we were out. since i was unable to settle on a place, he decided we would try nosh, since i'd heard rave reviews about the place and was curious as to the truth of it all.

first of all, it looked like this on the outside:
so cute! lime green chairs!

and like this on the inside:
cozy and quirky - the music was fun!

and this type of art covered the walls:
superheroes!!! its aquaman!

and best of all, the drinks looked like this!:
yes that beer is very man-sized

i was way too excited [and way too hungry] to take a picture of my food when it came but let me tell you, it was delicious! i had the chicken bahn mi - cucumbers and carrots and basil and cilantro and smoked chicken on a hoagie-type bun. greg had a burger and it came with fried egg on it! we shared a cup of sea salt and vinegar fries and oh my gosh it was hard to restrain myself from eating them all in two seconds, they were that good. after the meal we were so stuffed we could hardly walk the few blocks back to the car. all in all, i highly recommend the place if you like organic pub food and funky fries and fun atmosphere. check it out at noshkitchenbar.com. as we were leaving it looked like it was getting really busy, so maybe it's a hoppin' bar scene in the evening? not sure. maybe next time :)

laconia: bike week

.

i told you this post would be about laconia! the 88th annual motorcycle rally in laconia, nh was this past week and i had the good fortune of being able to ride up there with some friends. we stayed in a beautiful lakehouse that belongs to my gal pal suzanne's parents. they were exceptionally good to let us (6 twenty-something year-olds) stay in their house and celebrate. we had a ton of fun - fishing, paddleboating, drinks, and awesome food. it happened to be her father's birthday on saturday as well so there were all kinds of people there! wicked fun.

we rode down on saturday morning (left at 8am! so early!) on our bikes. my boyfriend greg took his 2006 electraglide harley-davidson, my gal pal's husband chris took his sporty style buell, and I was on my own 2007 suzuki gs500f. suzanne drove the truck with most of our gear.

our bikes waiting for riders!
it was a gorgeous two hour ride with only a litte bit of rain. the worst part was waking up early to beat the rush, though even still we passed at least a hundred bikes going the other way. poor wayne had to stay at home by himself though...he didn't destroy anything that i could find so i guess he enjoyed the alone time!

and speaking of wayne, he's a photo of greg driving me to pick wayne up the day he came home :)

why so serious...?

to finish up the saga of this weekend, i spent fathers' day at my parents' house and got to see my daddy :) i miss my parents a lot now that i'm grown and flown, but it's good to be able to see them more often than twice a year! hopefully they will be able to come up and visit soon *hint hint!* wayne wants to meet you!!

meet the cast

.

meet wayne anderson griffin (or wag for short), the newest addition to the household!
little wayne, haha

squinty from eye gunk
playing...he's a kitten

he's about seven weeks old in these photos and wasn't even 3lbs soaking wet. he was in desperate need of a good home and some good care, and while i'm not really a "cat person", i couldn't just leave him to his fate. now he's about ten weeks old and i swear, more than twice as big as when i took him in! some of his hobbies include: chewing on my socks regardless of whether or not they're on my feet, mewing and caterwauling until someone picks him up or rubs his belly, tearing around the house for no good reason, and sleeping. some of his dislikes include: being ignored, bath time, and the outdoors. he's a very good cat in general, though sometimes he bites a little too hard or scratches if he's startled, but he's still such a little baby that you can't really blame him. he's not declawed and i don't think he will be (i didn't realize how intensive the process was) unless he starts destroying furniture. he does get a nail trimming session once a week so that helps with the issue. the next big milestone in his life is a trip to the vet...for rabies/distemper shots and neutering, oh boy.

the other non-human member of the home is stella, the 9 year old chilean rose-haired tarantula that is the sole surviving member of a high school biology project.

see? not scary.
her likes and dislikes: ...i'm not sure...she's kind of just a huge bug. evidently they can live to be 20 years old in captivity, so I guess there's about 11 more years of tarantula care in my future. she might outlive wayne!

then i guess there's me. my likes include: motorcycles, engineering, the outdoors, sports, and going out with friends. my dislikes include: capital letters, the evil clowns that live in my basement, and dead bugs - especially moths. those things are scary and deadly. seriously. watch out.

that about wraps up the intro to the creatures living up here in this house! tune in next time for laconia: bike week!
